As a lifelong drummer, I've always been on a quest to find my perfect sound. Over the years my tastes have changed and I'd like to think they've become more sophisticated. When a good friend and talented drummer recommended Mehteran Cymbals to me, I trusted his advice and gave Mehteran a shot by asking for a 24" ride that had a very specific dark sound with a nice swell.
Mehteran delivered! What they created has become one of my favorite cymbals. It was an easy decision to continue with Mehteran by ordering 16" hi-hats and a crash .
I played Mehteran Cymbals during an album recording session over a 4 day period. On that final day the producer/engineer came over to my drums to take photos of the cymbals and told me how they were the best sounding cymbals he's ever recorded. They sat so well in the mix with little to no EQ needed. He wanted photos so he could remember the brand and sizes to help recommend them to other session drummers he works with. This producer has multiple Grammy awards and a career recording and mixing albums for the likes of Extreme and Duran Duran.
Mehteran Cymbals sound just as good in live situations and I receive comments about how great they sit in the live mix from other musicians and engineers. I decided to continue my Mehteran journey by adding more of their hand made cymbals from a different series to broaden my sonic range.
During my four decades of drumming, I have played every major brand of cymbals, including lesser known smaller brands. Mehteran Cymbals are the best sounding of all and they fit my budget as well.
